Our Story
IHARA Coffee was founded in 1995 by a collective of passionate coffee farmers in the fertile highlands surrounding Mount Kenya. What began as a small cooperative has grown into one of Kenya's most respected coffee exporters, renowned for quality and consistency.
Our name, IHARA, comes from the Kikuyu word meaning "to carefully select," reflecting our commitment to excellence at every stage of production.From the seedling to the shipping container, we maintain the highest standards of quality control
Today, we work with over 500 smallholder farmers across the Mount Kenya region, providing them with technical support, fair prices, and access to international markets.Our coffee is enjoyed in speciality cafes and homes across Europe, Asia and North America

Beth W. Mugambi
Chief Executive Officer & Founder
Beth W. Mugambi is the visionary founder and CEO of IHARA Coffee. Born and raised in the coffee-growing regions of Kenya, Beth developed a deep appreciation for coffee cultivation from an early age.
After earning a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Nairobi, Beth recognized the opportunity to create a business that could benefit both local farmers and international coffee lovers.Her leadership has been instrumental in building IHARA Coffee into a respected name in the global coffee industry
Under Beth's guidance, IHARA Coffee has received numerous awards for quality and sustainability, including the Kenya Coffee Board Excellence Award and certification from the Rainforest Alliance
